MOSQUITO CONTROL

Adulticide - Killing Adult Mosquitoes

When used in accordance with a pre-determined strategic plan, the aerial application of pesticides to kill adult mosquitoes that carry the  Zika virus, Chikungunya virus, dengue, malaria, West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis, is a process that has been developed and perfected in Florida, USA. Aerial application technology is available that uses dispersal equipment mounted on helicopters and/or airplanes that can produce a highly micronized particle fog capable of covering large areas to achieve adult mosquito control to reduce the spread of mosquito borne disease. Efficiency is enhanced by utilizing high pressure dispersal process that produces a chemical cloud that reduces the amount of dispersed chemical, making this solution suited for  mosquito Vector-Borne disease control in high densely populated areas to control the spread of mosquito borne diseases.

Control Verses Eradication

The use of aerial application of pesticides is a “mosquito control program”. It is typically used in combination with a ground based mosquito monitoring system or medical infection monitoring program to determine the frequency and duration of aerial applications. The State of Florida USA uses this process to control its mosquito population. Florida tourism and the Florida economy in general owes much of its success to the effectiveness of comprehensive mosquito control programs. The use of rotor-craft (helicopters), makes aerial application programs suitable for operations in remote locations.
